"Very stressful and not well organized, considerable damage"

16 September 2020

Poot planning for the packing with many date changes. Packers didn’t have the required materials and did everything in a hurry. The result was several pieces of broken furniture and several boxes of broken china and crystal ware, many of them irreplaceable heirlooms. It’s the worst move I’ve had

"Terrible experience that ended in a legal dispute"

17 April 2020

I would like to start saying that I am an actual customer of the company. I was not paid to do this review.

I had one of the worst experiences in my life by using this company. As other online reviewers have said, this company practices “deceptive pricing”. They will offer you an initial quote and even tell you in writing that “everything is included”. It happens that it’s not. Before delivering your goods, they will ask you for shady cash payments to a company abroad and retain your goods in hostage. When I emailed them I either received a no-reply, threats or rude answers.

I had to file 3 legal disputes to have my belongings back and pay cash money to them. They are pirates.

"Private move USA to Germany"

07 April 2020

Unfortunately there was a significant lack in planning and communications.
First, they didn’t show up on the planned day, but a day late. The night before, the company called to ask me how many boxes they need and how many “cubes” my total volume was. At 9:00 pm. The night before the move.
The next day two guys showed up with a U-Haul truck. They were extremely nice and competent, but the company clearly had no idea. We were moving an entire household that clearly needed more than two guys. I called INternational Vanlines, and the guy I talked to wasn’t even aware they had sub-contracted the actual move.
I hope everything will arrive without breakage. But the planning and communications did not leave me with a very good impression.

"Good Experience with IVL"

03 January 2020

International Van Lines handled my move from New York to London. It was for a 2 bedroom apartment that required full packing. My experience with IVL was great. They were on-time, professional and packed well. It took about 3 to 4 weeks before my stuff arrived. IVL’s agent in the UK handled the delivery and did it well. I would work with them again.

It was difficult to get answers, regarding status, once they had been paid, from these people, unlike the European contractor who delivered the goods.
I am not sure how IVL accomplished it, but the carefully measured , and calculated, 118 cf managed to occupy almost 250 cf when they placed it on their pallets. . .an impossible feat of magic! And, of course that meant that our charges were increased from the quoted price of $1,995 to almost $4,000.
I suppose that the five months that we waited, without any communication from IVL, even when we emailed with specific questions, can be explained; however, the bottom line is that I would not use them again. If they were my only choice I would palletize my shipment, carefully measure and photograph it, and demand a final cost based on this quote
