Moving from Nyc to France

After reading many reviews about different moving companies I was very concerned about issues that could happen with customs. I also had fragile items that might get broken. Of course moving during pandemic was also very stressful.
I chose Sea & Air International after checking with so many companies.

Communication with Sea & Air International was easy and smooth. I asked many questions and I always got clear answers. They were very patient.

I moved on June 9th.
Everything went very smoothly. 5 guys came to pick up everything at my studio. Everyone was nice and fast. They were perfectly managed, organized and professional. I had packed most of my stuff but everything left, mostly furniture and fragile items, were packed very carefully in less than 3 hours. They numbered all boxes in a very clear way.
My moving was ready to deliver to France mid August. 2 movers delivered everything. They were well organized and thanks to box numbers it was very easy to check everything was here. It went so fast, less than 2 hours.
All my stuff arrived in perfect condition. I had many fragile items like ceramics and nothing was even damaged or broken. I am still impressed by the way they handled everything!

Nevertheless I would suggest to make sure the moving company is quoting the lowest volume of your estimation.
Because this is how it works: if your moving volume ends up being smaller than the estimation you approved you still have to pay the full price of the quotation. At the opposite if your real volume is bigger than what you approved on quotation, the moving company will adjust the cost.
For some reasons I approved a too big volume estimation and had to pay for it even if my real volume ended up being smaller.

Estimate an enough small volume to make sure you will not pay more than you should.

I also would like to mention the insurance process is kind of a nightmare. They ask you to provide a price for each item you ship. It is such a hard and long process. That was the worst part of the moving and I was kind of lost. Not even sure I was well covered, so insurance might not be worth.

Overall I highly recommend Sea & Air International. What was supposed to be highly stressful became a very smooth experience! Thank you!!!

The company was very well organized

The company was very well organized and the agents were all excellent, especially the destination agent. However, the Crowne company they subcontracted for packing did a very poor job. They have arrived without proper packing materials and said they would repack the furniture therefore in their warehouse before loading it on the container. This, however, apparently did not happen and valuable pieces as well as fragile pieces were simply wrapped in paper, no bubble wrap or cartons were used. It was a miracle that not more damage happened than it did. Also the description of the items did not correspond to the numbers and was illegible, so it could not be properly checked.

Sea & Air International

ISAS was good about responding quickly to requests and informing us of the status of our shipment. Very little if no damage upon arrival. I would recommend them. Also, a very good price for the service received!
